Party Agenda and FAQ
Before Party:
All participants will sign a liability waiver and
fill out the first part of a short survey. (No
worries; I’m usually the only one who gets hurt.)
First Half of Party:
The first 60 - 90 minutes will be sit down
discussion of personal safety. This includes
strategies on how to avoid becoming a victim in the
first place. We will also talk about the other three
types of attack (verbal, mental and emotional) and
how to avoid them.
Second Half of Party:
The focus is on practicing
simple, physical self-defense movements. This
includes unexpected targets and simple strikes and
escape techniques. We will practice enough to build
muscle memory.
The goal of the
Self-Defense Party is to give you enough basic
information that you can avoid most attacks and can
think clearly to handle the others.
The party will end with filling out the second half
of the short survey, a group photo (you may opt out,
if shy) and hopefully some excellent video
testimonials to use on my website! You may also
write a short testimonial about how you felt before,
what you learned and how you feel after with regard
to your safety. No obligation but other potential
attendees will love to hear what you thought.
What to wear on your Top Half:
A t-shirt is great for your “top half” as it is
non-revealing and doesn’t have anything to get torn
off of it.
What to wear on your Bottom Half:
Please wear long shorts, capri or full-length pants,
stretchy or loose enough for you move comfortably.
What to wear on your Feet:
Athletic shoes that tie on are best. Shoes that stay
on (without heels) are good.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much physical activity? Enough to get your
heart rate up and be slightly happily sore the next
day.
2. Will the party be fun? While we do a lot of
laughing, the subject matter is serious and includes
life-saving skills. Anyone who is causing
distraction or not paying attention will be asked to
leave for the safety of the other students who need
to learn complete skills in order to be safer.
3. Do we get to eat? Eat well before you come to the
party; you will need energy. There may be some
snacking going on during the discussion portion of
the party. Hostess choice if there are munchies
afterward.

See you at the party!
